Hardwood Floor Care

Hardwood Floor Care

  • Sweep and vacuum your floor regularly to prevent dirt and dust from scratching the finish.
  • Occasionally clean your hardwood floor with a mop or microfiber mop using cleaners made for hardwood floors.
  • Wipe up any spills as soon as possible.
  • Place a rug or mat by any door or entrance to reduce dirt and moisture getting tracked into your home and on your hardwood floor.
  • Use area rugs in well-traveled areas
  • Use felt floor protectors on your furniture legs to avoid scratches and indentions.
  • Avoid wearing shoes with high heels or heel taps or shoes tracking dirt, oil or grease. Removing your shoes at the door all together if you can.
  • Do not use a wet mop or water to clean your hardwood floors.
  • Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, wax-based products, detergents, bleach, abrasive cleaning soaps, oil soaps, polishes or acidic materials.
  • Keep pet’s nails trimmed to avoid scratches.
  • The sun’s rays can cause your floor to discolor.  Consider using curtains or blinds to reduce UV rays.
